Jakarta Government Receives Award from AICTA 2021 for JAKI

Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan attended an official announcement ceremony (online) on the victory of Jakarta Kini (JAKI) application at ASEAN ICT Awards (AICTA) 2021 for Public Sector category.

Indonesia, through the initiative of the Jakarta Government, managed to win against Singapore and Cambodia in the final of AICTA 2021, which was held on December 14-15, 2021.

In the final of AICTA 2021, JAKI innovation which presented by Jakarta Smart City BLUD Head, Yudhistira Nugraha, managed to amaze judges consisting of ten members of ASEAN countries and two independent judges from Japan and China. The final result was announced on January 28, 2022 which had been released on https://aseanictaward.com/news.html.

"JAKI's success won't be realized without participation of our collaborators, all levels of Regional Apparatus Organizations, and Jakartans who continue to make innovations to provide accessibility of public services and information through integration and collaboration," he said, at Jakarta City Hall, Saturday (1/29), as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release.

The Jakarta Government is the first government institution to award a gold medal for Indonesia at AICTA. At the final of AICTA 2021, JAKI managed to beat the leading countries such as Singapore, which always dominated and won for Public Sector category.

Shita Laksmi, one of the judges for IdenTIK 2020 and ASEAN ICT Awards 2021, said that public sector is a category that accommodates information technology innovations carried out by government organizations to provide efficient public services.

Previously, several representatives from other countries had won this category. The top three winners in this category in 2019 were Road Tax (Laos), IMDA Lab on Wheels (Singapore), and Parents Gateway (Singapore).

"Indonesia has never received gold for Public Sector, so JAKI's victory against ASEAN countries at AICTA is a proof that Indonesian technological innovations are able to compete on international stage. JAKI application is comprehensive in solving many problems in public sector. Many services become more effective and efficient, making it easier for residents without having to download many application,"

Previously, there was also Indonesian representative who won gold at AICTA 2013, namely Smartcard for Frequent Traveler. While e-Voting Pilkada (regional heads election) won silver at AICTA 2018. After waiting for 8 years, Indonesia once again won a gold medal through JAKI application platform.

About AICTA

AICTA is an initiative and project under ASEAN ICT Masterplan 2015, ASEAN ICT Masterplan 2020, and ASEAN ICT Masterplan 2025 to recognize the best ICT (Information Communication and Technology) among entrepreneurs and organizations in ASEAN.

AICTA aims to be a benchmark for success in innovation and creativity, offering business opportunities and trade relations thereby elevating ICT power and public awareness, as well as providing platform to promote ASEAN ICT products globally.

AICTA was initially held in Philippines in November 2012 and had been held nine times, except in 2020. This year, AICTA was held online in Myanmar. Six categories contested in this event were Private Sector, Public Sector, Corporate Social Responsibility, Digital Content, Start-Up Company, and Research and Development.

JAKI's Journey at AICTA 2021

JAKI has a long journey before competing AICTA 2021. Last year, JAKI was selected as the best work in Public Sector category at IdenTIK 2020 event.

This achievement led JAKI to be Indonesia's representative for the same category at ASEAN level at AICTA 2021. After going through preliminary and coaching rounds, JAKI became one of public sector nominees that qualified for final round, together with QR Code System Used by Cambodian Government to Fight Against Covid-19 from Cambodia and HealthCerts from Singapore.

There were also other Indonesia's representatives who competed in other sectors at AICTA, namely Nodeflux (Private Sector, Gold Medal) and Botika (Private Sector, Bronze Medal).
